Are you trying to figure out what to serve for you holiday party? Well, I wanted to share my New Orleans BBQ Shrimp recipe. I love cooking this dish for family and friends. This is not the BBQ sauce you may think of with a ketchup base. The base is made with butter and lots of herbs and spices. Very easy recipe to follow. Perfect appetizer for an intimate gathering. Lets get started.
1 lb of jumbo shrimp (prefer head on, but hard to find in my area)
1 stick of butter
1/2 cup olive oil
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper, salt, ground thyme, black pepper, paprika, ground rosemary
1/2 teaspoon ground Oregano, ground basil and lemon juice
3 teaspoon crushed garlic
1 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon hot cause
3 bay leaves crushed
2 tablespoons chopped parsley
1/4 cup dark beer
loaf of french bread (sliced)
preheat oven 350 degrees
On a medium to low fire melt butter in sauce pan. Then add cayenne pepper, salt, thyme, pepper, oregano, basil, paprika, garlic rosemary, Worcestershire sauce, and bay leaves. Simmer for about 2 minutes
Arrange shrimp in a baking dish and try not to stack on top of each other. The butter mixture needs to cover the shrimp. Once the shrimp is placed in the baking pay, add hot sauce, lemon juice and beer to the shrimp. Cover and place in the oven for about 15 minutes or until shrimp turns pink.
place a couple of slices of bread in a bowl and spoon shrimp with sauce on top. Enjoy!
