Bread Pudding and Bourbon Sauce

One of my favorite deserts.  I love bread pudding.

This is one of the items on our Thanksgiving menu and wanted to share with you guys

7 slices of French Bread (sliced 1″ thick)

2 cups of milk (1/2 whole and 1/2 evaporated)

2 cups of sugar

4 eggs

2 T vanilla

1/2 cup raisins

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 tick of butter (softened)

break French bread in cubes.  Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl.  Add bread to the mixture and make sure it’s blended well together.  Let soak for about 15 minutes.

Preheat oven at 350 degrees

Pour mixture into an ungreased pan and bake for about 45 to 50 minutes.

Bourbon Sauce

1/2 cup bourbon

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 stick butter

1 teaspoon butter

1 teaspoon cinnamon

Melt butter on medium to low heat in a sauté pan, add brown sugar and cinnamon and stir.  Then add bourbon.  I usually lite the bourbon on fire to burn off the alcohol. Once bread pudding is done, pour bourbon sauce over pudding while hot.
