I apologize for not posting anything last week, but I have been away from my computer and getting my children ready for school. Some of you may know, I have been getting my daughter ready for college and she moved to her home away from home this past weekend. We spent the entire week buying essentials for her room and getting her paperwork together. She moved in on Thursday morning…My big girl is growing up and we miss her already. It feels strange not having her home, but I have my little one here who’s starting kindergarten today. So today is my daughter first day of college and it’s also my son’s first day of Kindergarten…..what a day.
My daughter’s favorite snack (the only thing she requested). My son is excited on this picture, but I have another picture of him when it was time for me to leave and he was so scared of the unknown. I keep telling myself, “he will be fine”.
Ok, my husband has been posting these recipes he find on Facebook to my page as a hint. So I decided to try this one because it looked interesting and I love vanilla ice cream.
My grandmother use to make ice cream in her ice cream maker and I never thought you could make it this way.
This recipe is courtesy of Sherry Kirkpatrick Patterson
1can (14oz) sweetened condense milk
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
2cups cold heavy cream
In medium bowl stir together condensed milk, vanilla and Bourbon. In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, beat cream on high until stiff peaks forms about 3 to 4 minutes. With a rubber spatula, gently fold whipped cream into condensed milk mixture. Pour into a 41/2 x 8 1/2 inch loaf pan. Freeze until firm, about 6 hours
Beat whipping cream with electric mixer
Fold in whipped cream
Pour mixture into loaf pan
Six hours later you get this!!! Ice Cream
This turned out great and it was delicious. I was concerned about having the alcohol after taste, but you only taste the flavor of the Bourbon.
I absolutely love vanilla and I can see making this again and eating with Banana Foster (New Orleans dessert)…….can’t wait.
Have you tried this before?
Hi All, I just wanted to update you on our family room. It’s coming along really well. We’ve had a few bumps but it’s starting to look great. Check it out!
We decided to add extra insulation because this room has a wall of windows and it gets cold in the winter and warm in the summer. We also added recessed lighting, which I can not wait to see it all completed…..I’ve always wanted these.
(I couldn’t wait to paint this section).
The drywall is up!!! Can’t wait to paint the entire room. Next we have to paint the entire room, install crown molding, flooring and base boards. The room is coming alone great.
Don’t you love it when you stumble upon something you didn’t expect…..I do, especially when it’s a great deal.
Well, I was walking past Nine West during lunch and noticed this big pink Sale sign in the window. When I focused on the store, I noticed the shelves were not full. Nosy me, wanted to see what was going on. Found out this store location was closing and they were getting rid of all their inventory. Every shoe in the store was $29.99…..YES $29.99!!! Well, my size is usually the first to go, so I didn’t expect to find much, but found two pair of shoes that I absolutely loved, so I asked the sales person for my size and crossed my fingers. When she turned the corner with those boxes, my heart was pounding with excitement. These were the last two pair and they were my size. It was like they were just waiting for me to rescue them…….Heaven!!! Tell me what you think!
(Fanesa) Just in time for fall.

Traveled to Houston this past weekend to celebrate my niece and sister’s birthday….Happy Birthday Gabbie and Quinese!!!!!! My little Gabbie girl celebrated her 5th birthday at Chuck e Cheese with family and friends and we had a really nice time. We saved up some energy to celebrate my sister’s birthday later that evening at Ra Sushi. This restaurant has that sexy club vibe, especially with the dance music playing in the background. We had a blast and laughed the entire night. Either at one of the girls standing up dancing at the table in the middle of eating dinner or at something funny Christal said. This was a nice getaway spent with the most lively crew I’ve been around in a long time.

I finally got a chance to try something I never had before….Sushi…I know right…I never had the guts to try it. When I thought of Sushi, I always associated raw fish with it, and I’m not eating raw fish. I didn’t know I could get the shellfish version, and you know I love me some seafood. So I tried it.
Well first, we started the evening with drinks…..since it was happy hour. Well, the end of happy hour and we tried to get the waitress to give us two at a time, but she couldn’t 😦
Frozen Fuzzy Momo Bellini
Then we had appetizers
Viva Las Vegas Rolls & Tootsy Maki
Lobster Rolls & Bonafire Shrimp
and finally our waitress, Chris, surprised my sister with a birthday dessert, which was delish!!!
Cinnamon Tempura Gelato
This was delicious, actually everything was delicious and I had great time with great company. I will definitely take my husband for a date night at the location in Chicago. Have you tried it?
Thanks girls for a great weekend with friends and family!!!
My husband and I wanted to track our home transformation projects to really get a glimpse of our blended styles. I have me own style (modern w/a touch of color) and my husband has his style (color everywhere). Most of the time it could be really difficult to blend. My husband is very opinionated.
We decided to redo our family room because that’s the room we spend the most of our time. We eat, play, entertain and watch TV in this room. My husband and I love to entertain. When we lived in New Orleans, in a 14oo sf townhouse we always had guess over for dinner. I believe the space worked because the layout was more open. It’s hard to have a large group here because we feel like everyone is on top of each other and I was always embarrassed about the decor because I know it didn’t represent us, we inherited it from his parents. Now my mother-in-law had great taste (she was a gifted artist), and I absolutely love some of her pieces, but we wanted to update the home to represent our union.
Here’s a couple of pictures of our family room. As you can see, we have black carpet, 1970s dark lighting, country style wooden chairs and a black leather sofa. I didn’t get a chance to take a picture of the room when the leather sofa was in here. This picture was taken the night before demo day with my phone camera, so please excuse the quality and mess.
As you can see, it’s really dated and dark. So we decided to pull the paneling down, remove the ceiling tiles, change the flooring and remove the large closet that takes up too much space, but first is demo day.
I have a couple of pictures of our demo and I can not believe what we found behind one of the walls.
My little one jumped in the picture.
I’m so excited about this project, I’m sure the changes will open it up a bit.
